you can bring your own stuff or Randy will supply you with a tree. Beginners are very welcome. They should, however, participate as observers. That way they will learn more.

It will be possible to participate as
- full member two days
- full member one day
- silent observer for a fee one or two days
- lurker for free for 20 to 30 minutes to see what's going on and to decide whether you want to participate immediately or later

It will be possible to purchase exquisite collected American material right then for everyone. You don't need to take part in the Bonsai Academy for that. There will be a special discount just on these days.
There are about 300 collected trees there. A few dozen are outright world class, many very good, all hand selected by myself. There are over 150 trees in the range from US$ 45 to 600, about 50 from 600 to 1,500. Everybody can find himself a genuine American collected tree. Ponderosa pines, Rocky Mountein junipers, Engelman spruce and many other native species are availble
They give guarantee for recently collected stuff as long as you leave it in the nursery - money back or credit in case the tree did not make it. There are over 150 collected trees which are very well established and can be worked on right away.

I am not aware whether there is a nursery in all of  America which has such a lot quality collected stuff to offer. East of the Rockies Nature's Way Nursery is THE source for quality collected trees.

I look forward to see you all there.

Mugo pine #32

Pinus mugo, mugo pine. A few weeks ago this one got first styling. Only the thickest branches were wired. I wanted to see the tree very healthy before I wired everything. This was the case now. The wire will sty on for at least tow years, probably longer. Eventually I will have to find the final pot for this promising tree.

Rocky Mountain Juniper #6

Rocky Mountain Juniper, Juniperus scopulorum, collected in South Dakota in 1998. This one was already pretty far in development. But unfortunately it got attacked by fungus several times and lost most of it's foliage. I have treated it with strong copper solution a few times and now it seems to be stable. The smaller branches were all wired now.

Before and after images.

Rocky Mountain Juniper #5

European spruce #2

European spruce, Picea abies, collected in Germany in 1986, - first image. Then two images as of May 2012. The tree has not been fully wired in ten years. The branches start to look a bit poodely. So the whole tree was carefully edited, many small branches removed, everything wired. It too a few days! Now the wire will stay on for three to four years. Then the tree should shine and be presentable again.
