two advanced spruce

These two collected European spruce (Picea abies) look like they might be show ready eventually. Well, it's about time after twenty or so years of development. Such is work with spruce! But when they are ready they are a source for joy and pride.

maple again

The new growth looks so nice, I had to take another shot. One can watch the nebari grow under my horticultural scheme.

mugo pine #48

Mugo pine, Pinus mugo, collected in the Alps in spring of 2010. Walter brought it one step further. Now the tree will rest for three to five years. Then the crown should be ready for major styling. This will become a sumo pine.

new privet and spruce for sale or trade

Here some new trees which are available for sale or trade:

Privet, ligustrum in nice Peter Krebs pot, a bonsai already.
Three European spruce, collected, very old. The long one will be bent in a few weeks. We will report.

mugo pine #48 one year later

In July of 2010 Alex and WP bent this mugo pine. It was way too long and sitting in the pot in an awkward position. The operation was quite severe. Now, after 12 months everything looks fine tough. The crown was cut drastically and the tree placed more upright in the pot. Now it has a good future. In late summer the old needles will be plucked. The main branches will be wired and positioned. If it looks very healthy in spring of 2012 it will be planted into a reasonable bonsai pot; if not then in spring of 2013. At some time the smaller branches will be wired and then it's on the way to become an elegant and interesting sort of literati tree.
